"Switching Gears"
The new carpet will be down by friday afternoon & from there forward it's "go" time. Why do I feel like I did this 13 months ago? (Because I did do this 13 months ago when I sold my last house!!!) Hey, at least it's not 100 degrees every day during this move.
Last night spin & aqua jogging went well. My mind was racing knowing what all I had to get done. I missed last Thursday's early morning class & the instructor let me know I was missed. They are so incredibly nice! :)

3 months of "busy"
A Thanksgiving road trip may be in the making. I may ride up to Detroit with the Heusers. (Hannah & Jeff) Jeff's daughter, Skylar, lives in the same hometown as all my MI relatives. (Waterford, Michigan) Patti & I had thrown the idea out there about attending the Titans - Lions game on Thanksgiving day. I think it's a 12:30 kick off. So, that's back on the table. Who knows... We're just playing it by ear & the fact that a few of her patients are giving her free tickets is sure making it seem more appealing.
My week & some of my upcoming weekend will involve some packing. I hope I don't get into a discussion with my mother over furniture. She's a furniture fanatic. She'd love it if I would take 1/2 of hers but I don't want it. I have my OWN furniture. I'm a minimalist & so are my sisters. (mainly Deb & myself) We've learned to buy good pieces we like that last forever & are fully functional. There is nothing in my possession that I'm attached to but I do like it all. I have a few antiques that belonged to my paternal grandmother. It's not that I don't like mom's pieces but I have my own & it's really just an excuse for her to buy more. She is the queen of overloading rooms with big, fancy furniture. (Another sign I'm my dad's child. ha!)
Speaking of dad, he's pretty much agreed to keep an eye on her so I don't have to stress much over her. My parents divorced when I was 33, dad remarried, & lives less than 2 miles away. So, that is a bit of a relief. Maybe he can come do her yard for her. :) If you had told me that I would be facing the "aging parent's phase" of my life at 41, I would have never believed it. I was hoping this stuff wouldn't happen until my 50's or 60's. Such as life....
The next few months will be crazy.
Oct 4th: Leaves of Lincoln ride
Oct 16th: Gymnastic Olympians with Pam at the Sommet Center
The rest of the month, I'm moving....
November might be a time to regroup since I'll be unpacking everything & possibly the Michigan road trip at the end of the month will be a welcome escape IF it pans out.
Nov 6th: I have my next X ray on my shin. There better be some serious healing going on that shows on the X ray or I'm liable to throw myself on the floor & have a fit right there in the office.
December.....I celebrate 42 wonderful years on this earth & that will definitely include going to the Browns home game for sure on Dec 7th. Plus Hannah's birthday is that time too! That might be a good time to do the General Jackson pregame ride. :P
December 22-27th, I'll be in the great state of Texas. :)
No plans for New Years yet.....ummmmmmmmmmm...............
Tonight's workout will consist of the usual.
35 mins aqua jogging
45 min spin class

Screaming "4 and 0" baby!
I want to apologize for all the screaming today. It was me at LP Field. :)
Paul C. & I had too much fun today in downtown Nashville even though he was a bit beat. He had an overdose of football this weekend. He went down to watch the Vols at Auburn with some friends, drove back to Huntsville late last night, & then hooked up with me in Tullahoma. I drove us to my free parking space, we did the $5 "kegs n' eggs" & walked over to pick up our tickets at will call. (Thanks again to Erin for the ticketmaster alert!) We had great seats 8 rows off the field in section 127. Just a wonderful day with sunny skies, a fly over at the start of the game, & a defense that still ROCKS.
Look very closely at the back of his shoes. I swear there are jets back there. :P
Am I supposed to be sore?
I'm extremely inspired, entertained, & motivated by Jim Perkin's journey. Again, if you haven't read his blog regarding his cross country ride to raise diabetes awareness, please check it out. One day I want to meet Elke & ride with Jim for sure. :)
I'm pretty let down over that Auburn-UT game. Neither team looked good to me & that hand off/fumble thing Crompton did with Arian Foster was the "give away" to Auburn. Sick..... (Nice to see Peyton shows up every year at games during the Colts "bye" week.)

50.3 miles....Seriously?!

A wild friday evening at the gym...
65 min treadmill walk watching the news
30 SLOW mins on elliptical watching the news
pilates/ab work/leg weight machines while NOT watching the news
No change in my weight still...not a bad thing.

Are you there, Vodka? It's me, Lisa.
I won't even begin to explain the start of my day but I wish I had a pomegranite martini right now as I watch the season premiere of "Grey's Anatomy". The next month is going to be "hairy" for me. I'm so busy!Due to the economy, I've given up on finding a new career anytime soon. So my next step was to find a home. I refuse to buy right now because I still think I'll eventually move from this area. It took me literally 3 hours to find a small, cute, cheap, renovated house to rent. Yes, I'm moving....across town. Billy W. (Pam's father in law) was my angel today. I already have my moving buddies in place for the end of Oct. Thank you Elaine, Sam, & Scott. :)
My workout tonight is not even worth mentioning. I took the above book to the gym & I laughed my freaking butt off while moving slowly!
I have to mention this because it puzzles me. Why is my dad driving around in a bright fire engine red 1932 truck. He brought it over & I think he said it's a Ford. Who knows it was dark. He assured me it is street safe & considered an antique. Men & their toys!

It's official.
Yeah, I know, I know.....still no pedals yet & I'm considering that too but oh well, so what...I'm slow anyway. Incidentally, I called Pro Cycling & the story changes ever so slightly everytime. If they don't have the account set up by friday & my pedals on the way by Monday, I'm getting them somewhere else. Sure, I'd like to give this new store my business, etc...but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
I looked at previous years photos from the LOL & apparently anything goes with cycling attire. I will probably wear my tattered, torn Strider's singlet under a bright green thin, short jacket with the bike shorts. There's no telling what the temp will be at 8am on Oct 4th. (The heat misery of last years Middle 1/2 & Music City 1/2 still creeps into my mind.)
I will bring the purple long sleeve tech shirt with zip pockets, too, & I may just go with that only.
In spin class last night, we got into a discussion about what gets thrown at cyclists on the road. One lady said she had beer thrown on her once. One guy said that his coworker was cut off on Jackson last week by some lady & now has pins in his broken wrist. (I can identify with that from my roller blading break in '03! OUCH!) The instructor said he had been cussed at a lot. For a newbie like me, it just sounds scary! I've got to develop some thick skin & if beer gets thrown at me, I will pull over, pull out my phone, take a photo of the tag or back of the car, & dial 911 immediately because they're obviously drunk drivers.
So, anyway, I'm psyched up! ha!
I'm excited to see "Wicked" is coming back to Atlanta next month!
I just gotta find someone to go!!!!
Tonight at Harvey's:
65 min walk
some pilates/ab work
arm weights

Tuesday Workout
Burned some abs, spun for an hour, & thrashed around in the aqua jogger for 30 mins...
Paul S. & his girlfriend, Jessie, may do "Leaves of Lincoln". Cool!!!
Paul C. is going to be my partner in crime on Sunday. We have a plan in the making. :P
I know several more Pauls but they aren't near as interesting as these two.
No gas? We have it!
I'm still on the fence about going to the Vikings game. I just contacted Erin & Wayne to see if they still had extra lower level tickets. Call me spoiled but if I have to sit upper level, I just won't go anymore. I did way too much walking on the concrete socializing Sunday & my shin sure was letting me know it wasn't happy yesterday. It felt like it was "stunned" & looked a little swollen. I did go on to the 45 min spin class & I did 35 mins aqua jogging in the pool. This morning it feels better but lesson learned. My next X ray is Nov 6th. I really do hope there's some big time improvement in the X rays. I'm tired of being broken. I've been broken all year. 2008 will be forever known as my "broken year" but it will be also known as the the year I finally bought a bike. :) I cannot wait to get on it this weekend!
Tonight's plan:
some ab work
1 hr spin class
30 mins aqua jogging

Resting at LP Field
Belly painting? The guy told her that if the baby came out blue not to blame him. ha!
Upon entering our suite 280A on the West side (next to river), we had to get name tags.
Views from the suite.
It was nice running into Lana & her boys. She looked well rested for someone who's been training so incredibly hard. :) I also ran into Wayne & Erin while watching the pregnant woman get belly painted & I made a point to say "hey" to Mark C. right before 1/2 time.
I should have taken a photo of the food in the suite. It was insane. They had food spread out everywhere...chicken wraps, chicken strips, hot wings, salad, fruit, veggies, brownies, cookies, etc... I turned into a big pig this weekend. I will have to work extra hard this week to make sure I work off Pam's b-day cake & everything I consumed today. We were miserable when we left.
All in all a good, productive weekend with friends & family. :)
All I will say about the UT game is that I'm glad I didn't go. When Tim Tebow admits he's been studying Peyton Manning, then it's pretty much a done deal. Tebow is good, but Tebow studying Peyton is just GREAT. What a blow out yesterday! I could barely watch it & I thought about my friend, Paul C. there with his boys. He text me after the game, "It's going to be a LONG season for UT." He has season tickets to Neyland.
I've come to the conclusion that the Titans are going to have an interesting season. Cortland Finnigan proved once again that he's not too little to play football. (He was told that in high school.)
His nickname should be "Mr. Interception". I told Hannah that he's going to be my next husband. :P
Next weekend is the Vikings & then we don't have a home game again until Oct 27th when the Colts come to town. I'm on the fence about going. I'll see how my week goes & decide by mid week. I do plan on a 40 mile bike ride at some point next weekend. Yes, I'm committing myself to 40 for sure. I called Terri & she's pretty sure she may go out with me. If not, I'm sure Chris & Carla will do part of it with me. Have I said how much I like my bike lately? :)

B-day party at Tim's Ford Lake
This afteroon at the Waggoner's boat dock, we had Pam's 40th b-day party. As you can see, she's not hiding the fact that she's 40. :)
These were taken with my blackberry, obviously. I took out my camera & realized the batteries needed to be replaced. Gotta do that before the game tomorrow.
Almost comfortable...
I had to come to a stop at least twice for about 20 seconds to push the bike off on the hills but I am glad I did those hills. whew!
I kept telling myself to get off the seat, push my butt back, & pump the legs. When I got to the main road that runs through the base, I seemed to pick up some momentum. I kept looking at the mph on my Garmin wondering if it was right. I seem to be hitting anywhere from 12-19 mph on that road. When I got into town I headed towards Harvey's & rode around there. I then headed to DW Wilson. (It's closed so they can finish the renovations) I went down the paved walking trail that goes over to THS. I cut over to find that the band was practicing on the field. I then crossed Jackson & made my way to Anderson Street. I cut over to hwy 55 & headed home for a total of 32 miles in 2:24 exactly. If I had not gone into town, hit a few red lights, & pedaled too slowly in the rain, I feel like I could have done that in 2:15-2:20 easily. Who knows... It was fun & my shoulder never did feel tight or uncomfortable. I almost felt like I could have gone longer actually. I became almost comfortable, like it was more natural, & my fears of getting hit seem to be disappearing somewhat. Don't get me wrong, I was super cautious, especially since I went out alone. I even had my pepper spray attached to where I could easily grab it. :)

This afternoon & tomorrow...
The plan is MORE walking, MORE weights, MORE ab work, MORE stretching, & to bed early.
Tomorrow morning:
I'm on my bike for as long as I can stand it. (30+ miles at least)
Then to cousin, Pam's 40th b-day party at the lake.
She made herself a shirt that says something like, "Lordy, Lordy, I'm 40" & wore it the other day to eat lunch with Liam & Ella. If those kids were older they would have been SO embarrassed. ha!
Chapter 21 was all I read last night & it was one of the longer ones. To think that for 5+ years he couldn't see his family. His dad would come visit the soldiers in the field during the holidays but before he would leave he would stand as close as he could to the North to be close to his son. (incredibly moving)
Even if you aren't voting for him, it's a great, "triumph of the spirit" read. I love it.

Macaroni n' cheese, please...
Due to this fact, I'm definitely going to pass on Carla's girl's night at the mexican restaurant.
My mac 'n cheese eating self will be at Harvey's.
The backs & insides of my thighs are sore. I hope that's a good kinda soreness.
I worked it with the weights last night & walked. Tonight will be more leg weights, ab work, & more walking.
Gas has dropped here! ($3.78)

Planning ahead.......as usual.
Trying to juggle various points of interests is always a challenge this time of year.
There's usually so much going on that I can't fit it all in...
For instance, a couple of years ago, I chose the Indy game over seeing "The Lion King" at TPAC...why? Well, Indy won the Super Bowl that year so I'm glad I chose them. Besides I can eventually see "The Lion King" somewhere down the road...NY, Chicago, maybe...
This fall is no different but instead of trying to train for RC or Chickamauga or anything else for that matter.......I can't. I'm still broken until further X rays say I'm not but I have a bike now. :)
Saturday morning, I'm replacing my spin class & aqua jogging with a 30+ mile bike ride. (Sun afternoon, you know where I'll be...)
After emailing the people from "LOL" to find out that there is NO time limit, plenty of sag drivers on the course, etc... I'm confident that I can handle the 30 mile ride even if I don't have anyone else come with me. I can do it all by myself & I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I'm all about trying to fit in new & exciting "interests" now. :)
I just called Pro-Cycling about the frog pedals. They still don't have them. Alex assures me he will definitely have an answer by the end of this week. They are trying to set up an account, which is taking some time. So, Oct 4th, I'll be riding in trail shoes on the pedals that came on the bike. No big whoopie do deal, really. This is a learning experience...just like that 1st marathon in '04 that I ran on a 1/2 marathon base. :P
Tonight's projected workout after the chiropractor:
60 min walk
crunches/pilates moves
various arm weights/free weights
Wow!
All three of these people "ROCK" in my book!

Cooler morning, too........
I made it to the 5:30am spin class, which they have on Tuesdays. It's 1 hr long & she's pretty tough. She even gets off her bike to make sure everyone has enough tension. She assured me I was working hard enough. :)
It will be a two coffee day for me. I have a hair cut appt right after work that I don't want to fall asleep during. Linda usually runs late so a 5:30pm hair appt will probably start at 6pm, putting me out of there around 7pm. Seriously...but she's good!

It's here...cooler evening temps!
The Rec Ctr has a miniature Dana Torres in the form of an 8 yr old little girl. I've watched her dad (or grandad) coach her on several occasions while I'm aqua jogging. She's so cute & swims like a miniature Olympian.
I now have two unsolicited "whistles" in these unflattering bike shorts. (I still hate them!) :( Terri took the whistles Sun morning in stride. She was cracking me up waving at people when they honked. The 2nd whistle came while I was putting my bag in the car in between aqua jogging & spin class today. I was like, "Thanks, but I still think my butt looks big!"
FYI, the "older gentleman" has resurfaced. I do know his name now, thanks to B.B. at work. He's harmless. He wanted to chit chat as I was shivering into my car.
I told the spin instructor tonight that I should've brought in my bike light & put it on the front of my spin bike. She busted out laughing. I don't mind the dark, mind ya, but it does make me laugh everytime this happens.
Dec 22nd - Dec 27th, I'll be in San Antonio. Whoo Hoo! Yippee! I only paid $50 more for this years ticket than I did last years ticket & I have straight flights going to & coming back. (Thanks, Southwest!) I cannot wait to see the boys, the beagles, the Spurs, the sister, & her hubby! Yeah, I've suggested we stay with tradition & go to the Dec 23rd Spurs game.
(Hey, what's time spent in San Antonio without a Spurs game?! )
FYI, SNL could have been better Saturday night. Bob (from accounting) & I both agree that we could have written better skits. For instance, I would have had a skit where the US & French swimmers end up in a fight after the relay. I would have had a skit where Phelps was eating his 12,000 calories in a restaurant grossing people out. Oh, and what a waste, they neglected to have a skit with him in a speedo! Gesh! They pretty much copied a skit they did when Peyton Manning was hosting a couple of years ago. It's a skit where they had a swim coach trying to fire them up with lame music. He inspires Phelps to dance with him to the music. In the football version, Peyton is dancing shirtless. Phelps was not in this version. (Funny that I noticed all this... ha!)
I'm officially addicted to "Faith of my Fathers". I started reading it Sunday evening & could hardly put it down. Is it ok for me to think he was extremely hot way back then? :P
Tonight's workout:
45 mins aqua jogging
45 mins spin class
Sunday, September 14, 2008
Windy Cincy Game
Cortland Finnigan = 3 interceptions in 2 games
Chris Johnson = over 100 yards rushing
A "3 for 3 T weekend": (my cronies & I like these weekends)
Tullahoma beat Manchester
UT beat UAB
Titans beat Bengals
Next week's game at home is against the Texans. Bless their hearts, Reliant Stadium is big time damaged. :(
Windy 26 mile ride
We rode from our neighborhood out to 5 points in the Motlow area, then to Ledford mill, then Flowertown road, out to Tara, Macon, & then back to the 'hood. I looped my block to get it to 26 miles. My only complaint was my left shoulder getting too tight. I had to stop several times to stretch it out.
We're talking about doing "Leaves of Lincoln" on Oct 4th. The shortest ride is 30 miles & I know I can handle that after today's little ride. I don't see me getting the frog speedplay pedals by then but I think I can handle riding in my trail shoes for the time being. After the pedals come in, I'll have to spend some time practicing getting on/off. I don't want to do a "ride" before I'm comfortable with them.
Yesterday's workout:
1 hr spin class
45 mins aqua jogging
Saturday, September 13, 2008
FYI
Jim's bike is ready for his US cross country road trip! You go, Jim! That is one cool ride you have & I'm sure Elke is just as excited. :P
The Coffee Pot was won back by THS last night. I chose to work out & grocery shop but Ted kept me posted via text message. I'm not worth killing on friday nights most of the time but I got in a good long workout.
Carla, Chris, Terri J. & I are are riding Ledford Mill area Sunday morning. Terri insists it's a very pretty ride. I've not even driven out there in a really long time. (Bringing camera!) I hope the rain doesn't come until late afternoon. :(
I have a new "read" to start on, probably tomorrow. It's been on my "to read list" for a long time. NOW is the time. :)
Vols play early today at 11:30am central. I'll be heading to the 'boro after my Saturday workout.
Happy Saturday!
Friday afternoon workout:
65 min walk
ab work
weight machines
some free weights

The Sunny Side of Friday
Glad Chris Hope is helping out & I "Hope" it has a great turn out.
"Kickin' it with Shoe Carnival" :P
Tonight's plan is to workout hard at Harvey's (I'm sure I'll see Carla to plan our ride for early Sunday). It's been a struggle lately to hold the speed down on the treadmill. When I get it up to 4.0, I want to run & seriously it's a fight within myself not to run. I plan to do a repeat of Wed night's workout. (abs, walk, weights, pilates)
I'm looking forward to seeing my Kirby gal for my massage before I hit the gym.
I'm praying that those that stayed in Houston stay safe.
June, I'll be thinking of ya, gal. Glad you got your run in early this am! :)
My nephew's middle school in San Antonio is closing early today to help house the people who did leave Houston & Galveston. Sis says the storm turned away from them.
(Pray)

Finally something "positive".
ahh, the media, what would we do if they were not constantly stirring up a pot? Uhh, I think ALL of us can relate to our moms getting overprotective, running their mouths, etc... I can't wait to see him back on that field & I won't be booing. Something tells me nobody else will either. :)
And, "Live from New York" it's Michael Phelps! :)
And, today....something else "positive". They remembered in such a nice way.
Tonight's workout: (I took it a little easy)
65 min walk
some crunches
few weight machines
5:30am Spin class 45 mins
Looks like the early Sunday ride is a go-go. Carla wants to know where, when, how long, etc... I knew she'd be game! Even if something comes up with everyone else, I'm out there & I'm going LONNNGGG!
Goal: Get Faster!
