June 29th-PART 1

Part 1: 5.5 hour bus tour (Flat Iron & Empire State Buildings, Strawberry Fields, Dakota, Bull Market Bull)
After eating breakfast at a very neat little cafe', Cheryl, Hannah, I & boarded the "On Board" bus early. We were at the front of the bus. Everyone was on time & we took off with our tour guide Matt, who had a speech impediment but man was he interesting. He was so full of historical facts that it was information overload. I will say that some of the more interesting things did stick in my head. I'm sure over the next few days, I'll be like, "Oh, remember this, remember that?"

We drove over to the Flat Iron building, Empire state building, the Dakota, Central Park to Strawberry Fields, down 5th Avenue, & over near the Museum of Sex. We managed to avoid the Pridefest parade. (Later in the afternoon after the tour ended, Hannah & I got stuck in a rain storm in the parade. It was an experience to say the least!)

Flat Iron building...very cool!

Empire State Building Front door of Dakota where Lennon was shot right in front of his wife, Yoko Ono.
Corner of Dakota as we walked into Central Park to Strawberry Fields.
Top of Dakota where Yoko Ono still lives on the entire top floor.
"Imagine" the Lennon memorial where a guy keeps it clean with fresh flowers decorating it every day. He says he puts colorful leaves on it in the Fall. I could hear "Imagine" in my head when I stood there & it gave me chill bumps. There were old photos of the Beatles & a small guitar there. Beautiful! Yes, there really is a bull market bull. He was built by an artist & dumped on Wall St. as a joke. They were not amused so they moved him a few streets over near a park.

I'll finish up the 5.5 hr bus tour pics after the 4th. I still have to send Cheryl & Hannah pics & get some from them but the next two days I will be busy. I will say that everywhere we went, I felt safe. Most of the homeless people are on benches in the park. I saw maybe two while walking in the city. There are cops everywhere. The only person that asked me for money was a college kid who was raising money for the environment. (All positive experiences) :)
