I felt like Nancy Kerrigan today.

The dang right shin looked swollen & a little blue on the front. I made EVERYONE that sits around me look at it. "Yes, Lisa it's definitely swollen." It felt like Jeff Gillooly had hired a hit man to hit my shin with a baton. It's achy & tender to the touch. So, the hypochondriac in me called Dr. Stevens for an appt on Thursday at 2:50pm. (gee, why not just 3pm?) I hope to rule out a stress fracture. At the risk of sounding negative, that's probably next on the long list of injuries. It's been hurting off & on since Dec but not enough to alarm me so I'm guessing the hills recently have made it worse. Come to think of it, there was a monkey on the 11.2 with a baton Saturday or was that Jill because I did have on some pink shorts! ha!
I seriously hope it's just some swollen tissue/shin splint. If so, I'll take about 3-4 days straight off from running & then test it.

Tonight:
1 hr 5 min elliptical (moderately HARD, I was sweating)
free weights arms
some pilates & yoga ball crunches

Hannah & Jeff are finally back. Monday's plane was grounded in Tahiti so they had to take a much later flight bringing them to CA to spend the night there. I can't wait to hear the stories & see pictures. I mean, my gosh, she's started off with pics of her & Jeff Fisher checking in baggage! Excuse me but she's just a little close! ha!

My immediate Japanese boss came back from her long weekend in NYC. She brought me chocolates from Marie Belle. They are handpainted chocolates & fabulous!

Feeling Fat...

I cannot wait to hit the elliptical, crunches, & weights tonight. My body is craving some toning.
NO "American Idol" to entertain me so maybe I'll push harder than I have recently on the elliptical. I need to give my right shin a break from running anyway.
The swelling has come & gone many times over the last couple of months. I've ignored it since I had the sinus/allergy issues preoccupying me. Somehow not being able to breathe overrode a swollen shin, but that's getting back on track.....positive thinking, Lisa!

Zorro grabbed my legs as I was leaving Hannah's house last night. It's like the cat knew I was leaving for a few days. I felt so guilty. He misses his mommy so tomorrow, I'll head back up right after work to check on him, the house, & the mail. I may head over to E. Nashville to run with a group (or run way behind them!). I think they're just doing 6 miles anyway.

Thursday: I think the yard will be calling my name Thurs afternoon. I have to do it then or wait till Sunday afternoon.
Friday: Rest
Saturday: I really need to get in a minimum 9-10 miles......or maybe the 11.2 finally.
Can't wait to see "SITC" this weekend! :) "Hello Lova..." Carrie Bradshaw

Hypochondriac & a poem from Scott

The shin pain came back just before I left work. The ibuprophen wore off, I guess... I even called my college roomie to ask her what her symptoms were last year when she got the blood clot in her calf. I seriously don't think that is what it is but I'm covering all bases. She scared me to death last year with that because she's a relatively healthy person. Anyway, I'm icing again tonight & hoping tomorrow will be a pain free day. Yep, go ahead think it. I'm starting to believe I have Hypochondriac tendencies but I've been known to ignore pain. (see marathon finishes that were close to 5 hrs!)

I did 40 mins moderately-hard on the elliptical, crunches, & finished the mowing. I should probably get out the hedge trimmers this weekend then I can mulch the first weekend in May. Yardwork is very therapeutic for me for some reason. (not much of a cook, seamstress, or scrapbooker...just give me a rake, flowers, gas for the mower, & I'm a happy gal!)

Scott sent me a poem below in honor of my recent health issues. He recited it to me while adjusting my back this week & I shrieked with laughter. :)

When you go to kiss your honey
And her nose is kinda runny
You may think it's funny
but, its snot

Love,
Scott

Nature's Toilet

For whatever reason, I REALLY had to go to the bathroom when I got to Wood's Reservoir. Afterall, it wasn't good enough that I went before I left work & literally drove minutes to Wood's & still had to go. The dang bathrooms were locked. I know that last May they were open so with the beach being closed & all, why not keep the bathrooms locked, too?! Anyway, I changed into my running clothes & found a tree. :)

All day long, I kept looking at a small, swollen area on my right shin. I even rubbed some icy hot on it. It really hurt but I was determined to run a little anyway. Instead of the planned 6, I did just 3. During the first mile, I almost turned around, it was that painful, but I decided I wanted at least 3 rolling miles for my trouble & all. Saw two cyclists & Chris P. was there running. I then push mowed for an hour & picked up the yard (cross training), & iced my shin.
Kristi Lee Cook finally goes on "A.I." I'm not that surprised. At one time I had doubted she would make the top 10, much less the top 7. She's had a few really good weeks & in all honesty, she could come to Nashville & give Carrie Underwood a run for her money.
